If you’re looking for a good zombie tabletop RPG or a rulebook, you’ve come to the right place.
I prefer board games but every now and then a good old fashioned sit down with my friends (and enemies) with a good story is the only thing that will make me happy. If the role playing games featured below are not what you’re looking for then you’ll have to make your own rulebook, and when you do… please contact us so we can feature it!
Anyways All Flesh Must Be Eaten is an award winning game by Eden Studios which uses the Unisystem game system. It was made in 1999 and it is the first RPG to completely revolve around zombies.
“The main rulebook includes rules for character creation, combat and everything else you need to play in a world of survival horror. Also detailed are the multiple campaign settings so you can customize the type of “Deadworld” you wish to explore.”
The game has over 10 expansions so if you like the game you’ll be busy for quite some time!
Dead Reign is a 2008 tabletop RPG created as an alternative setting for another RPG but was rewritten by Kevin Siembieda. It features a very complex combat system and like other Palladium games a very complex skills system.
Other than the obvious “only destroying the brain” rule the zombies operate slightly differently than most zombies. They need life-force, they fear fire. They can see this life-force and hibernate when there is none around.
Outbreak: Undead is the newest of the bunch, having been released in 2010, and already featured by us on a couple of occasions. It is a game which can be modified to suit the most demanding player and a beginner as well. It has a percentile based combat system.
Included in Outbreak: Undead, players will find:
• A simple and unique percentile based combat system
• Everyday items that can be used as weapons
• Endless scenario types, with the ability to form missions from any and all existing zombie lore and fan-fiction
• Easy-to-use charts that can be used to customize outbreak scenarios for players of all levels of experience
• Dynamic rule-sets, designed to turn the game into a simulation,
including realistic factors such as “Panic,” “Pain,” and “Empathy”
• Character templates for all survivor archetypes, such as firemen, military personnel, and civilians.
The core rulebook of Outbreak: Undead consists of a player’s guide, a game-master’s guide, and a zombie guide.
Everything you need to play is contained in one place. The convenience of three books in one!
