Even since the mid-eighties and the beginning of commercial computer games, zombies have been represented in this area of gaming. With the the development of both computer programming and the zombie genre, the two were meant to intertwine. You just have to examine the two branches separately!
On one one hand you have the zombie movies and culture all derived and mutated from the great George A. Romero. On the other hand, there is the gaming industry which has been selling violence to the general public since the beginning. Now then, what is better than to make a video game about killing zombies?! For all of you who have played the Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, you know how munch fun that is. The 2008. and 2009. games represent the pinnacle of its genre, with great graphics and brilliant gameplay ability.
Probably the most famous and commercially successful zombie-based video game is the Resident Evil series.
Created by Capcom in 1996. for Playstation, this game and its sequels has sold over 40 million copies and has spawned a movie trilogy (soon to be quadrilogy) starring Mila Jovovich. The main feature of this classic is its scary atmosphere that follows you throughout the series.
Other games that deserve your attention are as follows: Zombies Ate My Neighbors (1993.), Zombie Driver (2009.), Isle Of The Dead (1993.), Plants Vs. Zombies (2009.), Corpse Killer (1994.), Shellshoc 2: Blood Trails (2009.)
There are even more games that are not zombie – based but include them on certain levels or parts of the game. The most prominent are: Carmageddon (1997.-2000.), Dead Space (2008.), Evil Dead series (2000.-2005.), Fallout series (1997.-2009.) or Doom series (1993.-2008.)
