You wouldn’t think that finding a decent zombie MMO game was hard, but it is! And that’s why I’m writing this and you’re reading it.
I remember when I had my 56k modem and would randomly go surfing on the web, today I don’t do that anymore. I (like everyone else) use search engines to find exactly what I want. Well I want to cry now, ’cause I can’t find what I am looking for.
After spending hours (today) and, overall, days during the last 2 years or so finding zombie games, I decided to list what I found and to write something about my experiences.
First off, there’s like a ton of zombie games being made, I mean, all over the place. You would imagine someone was subsidizing them; but they don’t, so most of them fail miserably after being pompously announced. The one’s that succeed are quite simple most of the time, but do give some pleasure.
Hopefully soon we’ll have a big name or two… until then enjoy the games listed below and please like/share this page (but only if you like it )
On a side note, if you’re looking for a cool zombie gift for someone special, look at our top 10 list for this year. Side note is now officially over

It is a very popular mod with over a million players and has already spawned copycats. Get ARMA2: Combined Ops and go visit Day Z to download the mod and enjoy!

Conartist, the creator of “The Last Stand” series featured on Armorgames.com, is behind “The Last Stand: Dead Zone” . This survival MMO zombie game combines running missions to zombie infested areas to scavenge resources with building a secure base and attracting survivors and is built around a great story line that continues from the last installment on armorgames.
A free zombie survival game set in a hostile world inhabited by zombies.
The players (or citizens) are divided into groups and are allocated a small town where they must organize themselves each day in such a way as to survive as long as possible against the zombies.
The last remaining survivor will become the Hero of the town.
State of Decay
This game is listed here cause depending on the sales of the game.. it will become a COOP game or even an MMO game. But so far.. it’s only single player.
State of Decay, unlike other zombie games on this list is not free and will cost you 1600 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live. This game provides many actual survival preparations such as scavenging and fortifying and could very well be the answer to all our prayers for a true open world sandbox game. Move through the world like a zombie-slaying bad ass. Dive through windows, jump on cars, and take it to the living dead with baseball bats. Hop in a truck and mow down some undead pedestrians. Break into the local police station and clear out their arsenal or walk into the local grocery store to stock up on your favorite junk food. The world is your oyster…a shiny oyster that happens to be filled with zombies.
For more details and the news of the game becoming an MMO return here to ZombiePlace or visit www.undeadlabs.com , the makers of the game. Their FAQ promise cooperative multiplayer game in the future.. and a PC release. And thank god because of that… cause not everyone wants an XBox…
Speaking of which… the new XBox One console is out and available through Amazon: Shop Amazon – Introducing Xbox One
Project Zomboid has been developed slowly but surely over the last few years and continues to do so. The community gathered around it is quite large or a game which is still in the Alpha stage (a good thing in my book). It is a survival RPG without a story line with multiplayer integrated into the game, so you better avoid the people that you do not know. They have a ton of planned features, check out their site and see if it is what you’ve been looking for.
It’s the best out there! It’s a hack and slash zombie survival MMO, with rpg elements.
It’s got an awesome feel to it, with great visual artwork and a beautiful selection in weapons and items (I have a katana ). New items, quests and various features are introduced on a fairly regulars basis.
It is also available in 3D.
A game I just can’t play. Every time I start playing it, I wanna install System Shock 2.
It’s a simple browser based game and it looks like one of the games that you can play in System Shock 2 on your PDA.
A browser text MMO game, and you’ll either like it or you won’t.
You can play it alone but I recommend using some team play – it will enhance the experience, which sadly rests on your shoulders’ imagination.
Outbreak Game, Shartak are Urban Dead spin-offs so I won’t even give you a link! Google it if you want to play them
A game about surviving the apocalypse using stuff you can raid from houses, shops and warehouses.

A simple browser game that is guaranteed to put at least one smile on your face, so go smile:-)
World of the Living Dead is a massively-multiplayer zombie game which features strategy gameplay and life or death resource management in a huge game universe. It also features roleplaying elements and a great atmosphere. The concept is very similar to Zombie Pandemic in some ways but it is obvious it is not a ripoff.
The game is currently being overhauled almost completely to make a more robust game. As of October 11th 2013 it is in closed limited beta.

EDIT on December 2012: Again, this game is in development and we’ve always listed it as in development. Do not buy the game if you’re expecting a finished product. The game was removed from Steam and the developers have threatened other gamers who did not buy the game from Steam that they would blacklist their credit cards from ever buying the game if they demanded a refund. There have been a great many more complaints but this page is about other games as well. Consider yourself warned. Also, we refuse to link to the game because of the way the people behind it treat gamers.
People, I hope this helps a bit. Sorry if I left anything out, the inter webs can be a really big place sometimes so please drop us a message if you see a new game or see an old one die and please share and link to this list. Thank you
